I grew up HATING medicine. To this day, I refuse to take pills. It is mostly a mental block. However, taking something with worse side effects than the illness ruffles my feathers, too. I am talking about the basic ailments. Headaches, lack of sleep, sore muscles, upset stomach, bruises, bug bites, etc. Seriously, have you read the back of an Advil bottle lately?
In July 2016, I had an awful kidney infection. The antibiotics had side effects worse than the infection itself. I was suddenly more nauseous and dizzy. I had no appetite and barely had enough energy to sit up. I had to miss 4 days of work! That’s is when I decided to dive into essential oils.

I had heard about them for a long time. I researched for hours and hours but never made the plunge. I wanted to make sure I was getting the GOOD stuff because what would be the point if I am putting any less than GOOD in my body.
This post is about natural remedies but I want to explain WHY I am using the brand in the following images.
I use Young Living essential oils. Young Living is a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) company. In the beginning, I could not care less about this part of the deal. All I wanted were the oils. I did think, well if I do end up loving and talking about the oils, a little extra cash never hurt anyone. If I am going to buy them, I might as well earn money too. They are VERY generous and I know many successful people in the company. It’s safe to say, Young Living does the “MLM” thing right.
I also loved that Young Living had products beyond the oils. Young Living gave me a chance to really turn this into a lifestyle. I could use the oils but I also had a new option for all natural laundry detergent, toothpaste, cough drops, skin care products, etc.
The thing that REALLY turned me on to Young Living was their Seed to Seal process. Young Living sees the product from the very seed to when it is sealed. They monitor every part of the process to double and triple check that the product is perfect. If a plant doesn’t produce the top oil, it is out of stock. They don’t add fillers or turn to another random farm. They don’t mess around.
Headaches & Sore Muscles
When I am experiencing head tension and any muscle soreness, I turn to Peppermint or Panaway. I simply put a drop of Peppermint on my finger and rub on my temples. Both create a cooling sensation. In order to relieve muscles after a hard work out, you can add drop of Panaway and water to a spray bottle. Spray on a warm wash cloth and put directly onto skin. Panaway would also make a great addition to a hot bath. Panaway is a blend of Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Clove and Peppermint.
Lack of Sleep
Sometimes I get to bed WAY too late for whatever reason. If I need something to help me fall asleep quickly and stay asleep, I use Lavender and Copaiba. Lavender is a familiar scent and is used in a lot of lotions and bubble baths. It is a calming oil that is perfect to use before bedtime. I put a drop on my wrists and behind my ears. I also like to diffuse lavender, too. Copiaba is known for having high levels of beta-caryophyllene. Sound familiar? Essentially, Copaiba is like a sister to cannabis oil. It is very calming and great to layer on top of lavender. You can read my full article on how to get a better night’s sleep naturally, here.
Bruises & Blemishes
Nobody likes a huge bruise on their shin. Who knows where it came from, I just want it gone! Lavender and Frankincense are great oils that support healthy skin. When a bump or bruise pops up, I use both to support the skin. If a blemish pops up, these two work in unison to maintain skin. Frankincense has also been known to help reduce wrinkles. I combine Lavender and Frankincense in a roller bottle with coconut oil. I roll it onto my skin in the evenings before bed.
Upset Stomach & Motion Sickness
I love Mexican food but Mexican food does not always love me. When I need to help out my digestive system, I turn to Digize and Lemon. Digize is a blend of Fennel, Patchouli, Lemongrass and several others. It has become one of my favorite oils because I have seen such amazing results. I simply apply a drop using my finger directly onto my stomach. Within minutes, I feel relief. Lemon is also great to support a healthy gut. Lemon is great for detoxing. I add a drop or two to every glass of water and tea I drink. Peppermint is also a great oil to use when you are feeling motion sickness. I always make sure to have it with me on a plane.
I mentioned earlier that I suffered from a terrible kidney infection. To maintain a healthy urinary system, I make sure to drink my lemon water. I also apply a drop of Purification directly onto my lower abdomen. Purification is a blend of Citronella, Tea Tree, Lemongrass and others. Purification is helpful with taking care of toxins and germs. I follow up with a drop of Thieves on my feet before bed each night. Thieves is Young Living’s go-to oil for immune support. It is the key ingredient in their cleaning products.
When you are feeling a little under the weather, R.C. is my go-to oil. It stands for Respiratory Care so interpret that as you wish. R.C. is a blend of Myrtle, Pine, Lavender, Cypress, Peppermint and others. I apply a few drops to my chest. I have also added a few to a hot bath and shower. Lavender is also helpful with nasal support.
There are MANY ways to use each of these essential oils. Most of them I use every single day and I’m not sick every single day. Essential oils aren’t just for feeling EW, they are also helpful in maintaining overall wellness. Using these oils help make your body stronger-naturally. You can’t overdose on oils, so use them all the time.
